Important Questions

Important Questions

Let's look to the Bible for answers to these important questions!

1. Is there really a Heaven and Hell?

Absolutely. Heaven is described as a place of paradise for the righteous. Hell is described as a place of torment and fire as a punishment for the wicked.

Important Bible passages:
Matthew 25:31-46
Mark 9:43-48
Revelation 2:7
Revelation 21:1-22:5

2. Do you need to go to church?

Yes, every Christian needs to attend church services. That’s how Christians share in worship, in the Lord’s Supper, and in encouraging each other. It’s not like it’s this check-list that you have to make sure you check off the list every Sunday. It’s about sharing in Christ and His people, and getting the encouragement we all need.

“And we must think about how to stir one another up to love and good words, not neglecting to meet together, as some have the habit, but always encouraging one another, and all the more so as you see the day of Christ drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Important Bible passages:
Acts 20:7-11
1 Corinthians 11:17-26
1 Corinthians 14:26

3. What is the purpose of baptism?

Baptism washes away your sins (Acts 22:16), so people are baptized so that their sins will be forgiven (Acts 2:38). Baptism is about dying to our old way of life and its sins, being buried with Jesus, so that we can rise up in a new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-4; Colossians 2:11-13). That’s why when we are buried with Christ in baptism, we are baptized into Christ’s body (Romans 6:1-11; Galatians 3:26-27; Colossians 2:11-13).

Important Bible passages:
Matthew 28:18-20
Acts 2:38
Acts 22:16
Romans 6:1-11
Galatians 3:26-27
Colossians 2:11-13
1 Peter 3:18-21

4. Can believers in Jesus be lost?

Yes. This is a sad truth — if Christians aren’t faithful until death, our hope in Christ is lost (Revelation 2:10). We need to stay holy and righteous as we look to the coming of Jesus (Hebrews 12:14).

Important Bible passages:
Matthew 5:21-27
Galatians 6:9
Ephesians 5:3-6
Hebrews 12:14
Revelation 2:10
